5 main factors that affect mold quality
I am glad to share with you some small knowledge of the factors that influence mold quality.
1st, mold steel. Mold steel is the key factor of mold quality.
The standard for choosing steel: Different plastics requires different steel, some has high polishing requirements and some has anti-corrosion requirements etc. About the steel price, mold steel should choose the material that in accordance with mold life. Normally, P20 material mold life is about 300 thousand, 2738 material life is 500 thousand, and H13/2344 mold life is between 800-1000 thousand. We may choose according to above situation.
Injection mold surface treatment is very important. Nitriding can enhance steel hardness and can prolong mold life; Plating can improve the mould. Some parts that require high polishing and anti-corrosion can be enhanced by plating.
2. Mold construction Mature mold construction not only need consider material properties, shrinkage, deform etc. And need consider cooling runner, the speed of mold clamping etc. Reasonable mold construction can effectively prolong mold life and make sure mold production efficiency and lower cost.
3. mold processing Mold technics arrangement is very important. Reasonable technic can faster production period, Decrease mold processing time, save cost. And precise and reasonable processing can make sure the production stability and prolong mold life. When processed wrongly , mold has to weld. It is a loss for the mold. Bad processing will also effect mold activity, decrease mold life and lead to mold crack during production.
4. Standard components Standard components do not directly take part in molding, but controls the running of mold. Good components can be wear-resisting, hard, high precision and hard to deform. Different brands have very different quality components.
5. Fitting Fitting is based on the experience of fitter experience. It looks simple but full of technics. Complicated molds lies in the work.
Building a Two plate mould is the simplest, if there is no flash and break for parting surface, it is basically a simple mold construction.
However for example: auto parts molds are very complicated, not only the parting line isnot straight but curved , there are also many sliders and ejector blocks.
And fitting can improve other mold issues. So it is a comprehensive work.
